Women in STEM Conference(WiSTEM)

Empowering the Next Generation of Female STEM Innovators in Africa

The women in STEM Conference is a yearly program ran by Data Girl Technologies with mission to address the disparities in STEM Education. This conference serves as a platform to empower the next generation of female tech talent in Africa by offering mentorship and fostering a supportive network of women.

By bringing together industry experts, we aim to cultivate an inclusive environment where women can learn, innovate, and collaborate.

The Women in STEM (WISTEM) initiative is dedicated to breaking down barriers and shaping the future of the STEM field.

What we have done so Far ...

The annual gathering is an initiative by Data Girl Technologies, a women-led organization, committed to fostering the next generation of female leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Founded with the vision of bridging the digital gender divide, the organization equips young women and girls with the digital, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century economy. Through practical training, mentorship, and community-building initiatives, Data Girl Technologies has become a driving force in advancing gender equity in technology across Cameroon and the African continent. Its core objectives include enhancing digital literacy, promoting women’s participation in emerging technologies, and fostering innovative ecosystems where women are equal contributors and decision-makers. Since 2020, Data Girl Technologies has trained over 3,000 women in digital skills, including 200 in underserved communities through our STEM Reach project. To scale this impact, we launched the Women in STEM (WiSTEM) Conference in 2024 as a national platform to amplify voices, foster connections, and promote STEM education for and among women in Cameroon. In 2024, we were able to empower over 250 women. In 2025, we launched the 2nd edition under the theme, Connect, Learn, Lead, and we were able to empower over 850 women through this event.
