Data Girl Technologies is happy to announce the launch of her new project, STEM Reach. This initiative aims to empower young women and girls in underserved rural communities in the Southwest region of Cameroon by providing them with equitable access to quality STEM education.

Addressing a Critical Need

Africa faces a significant shortage of engineers, with over 2.5 million more needed to tackle its development challenges. STEM education is crucial for bridging this gap and fostering a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation and economic growth.

Empowering Young Women

By focusing on underserved rural communities, STEM Reach aims to address the systemic barriers that prevent young women from accessing STEM education. Our goal is to inspire and equip these women with the knowledge and skills they need to pursue successful careers in STEM fields.

Key Objectives:

  • Provide free STEM education: Offer accessible and high-quality STEM training programs to young women aged 18-35.
  • Bridge the gender gap: Increase the representation of women in STEM fields by empowering them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
  • Foster local economic development: Create opportunities for young women to contribute to their communities and drive economic growth.

Project Approach:

STEM Reach will leverage Data Girl Tech’s successful model of providing practical, hands-on STEM training. We will deploy mobile STEM labs to bring education directly to rural communities, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.

Our focus will be on:

  • Intensive hands-on training: Covering a wide range of digital literacy such as Microsoft, excel, powerpoint…etc
  • Mentorship programs: Connecting young women with experienced professionals in the field to provide guidance and support.
  • Community outreach: Raising awareness about the importance of STEM education and encouraging girls to pursue careers in this field.
